The Holy Trinity Romanian Orthodox parish of Troy, MI celebrated the feast day on the weekend of June 2-4, 2017. His Eminence Metropolitan Nicolae served the Holy Unction on Friday night together with the parish priest, Fr. Călin Barbolovici and other priests from the neighboring parishes. On Saturday a memorial service was held for those who fell asleep, founders, servants, benefactors of the parish and relatives of the faithful in attendance.

The feast continued on Sunday morning with Divine Liturgy served by His Eminence Metropolitan Nicolae and His Eminence Metropolitan Nicholas of the Greek Orthodox Metropolis of Detroit together with local priests. His Eminence Metropolitan Nicholas wants to be present at this feast every year showing his brotherly love to His Eminence Metropolitan Nicolae and all the Romanian Orthodox community from Detroit and USA. At the litany for those who fell asleep was mentioned His Eminence Metropolitan Iakovos of the Greek Orthodox Metropolis of Chicago who passed into eternity two days ago.

In his sermon, His Eminence Metropolitan Nicolae mentioned the event of Pentecost from the Book of Acts urging the faithful to receive the descend of the Holy Spirit in the Church Mysteries and to show themselves to the world as bearers of the Spirit and of its fruits: love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control (Gal. 5, 22-23). “In our world troubled by bombings and wars, only a Christian can bring joy, peace, patience and goodness. All these we can give to the world only if we have them, if we acquire them by receiving the Holy Spirit” said His Eminence Metropolitan Nicolae.

At the end of the Divine Liturgy, Fr. Călin Barbolovici received the pectoral cross distinction and was also named as the new dean of the Central USA Deanery according to the Archdiocesan Congress decision from April 29, 2017. The agape meal and the program offered by the children of the parish concluded the feast.
