Your Eminence,

It is with deep sadness that we heard about the unexpected falling asleep in the Lord of His Eminence Archbishop Peter of Chicago and Mid-America. Archbishop Peter was a remarkable hierarch, a wonderful Shepherd, a good Servant in the Orthodox Church. I personally shared many moments of friendship with His Eminence Peter, and I could appreciate his devotion for the Church of Christ, for his clergy and faithful. He was always present for our Christmas Carol Concert, on Christmas Eve, at our Ss. Constantine and Helen Romanian Orthodox Cathedral in Chicago, and on Pascha Sunday to read the Gospel in Slavonic. He was a precious friend of our Romanian Community.

We share with all the hierarchs, priests and faithful of the Russian Orthodox Church Outside Russia the feelings of regret and sorrow.

On behalf of the priests and faithful of our Metropolia, please accept our sincere condolences. We pray our Lord Jesus Christ to establish his soul where the righteous repose. We assure you of our prayers for the soul of His departed servant Archbishop Peter!
